Sheriff Frank Denning
1. Overall crime rates in both rural and developed Johnson County have decreased through 2007. www.accesskansas.org/kbi/PDF/Crime%20Index%202007.pdf.
2. Patrol Unit and K-9's increased arrests by 36% overall. Including a 77% increase in drug related arrests.
3. Sheriff Denning Developed and Implemented Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) Unit.
4. Sheriff Denning recruited nationally recognized Crime Lab Director for our Accredited Forensic
Crime Lab.
5. Sheriff Frank Denning worked with the Kansas Legislature on successful legislation requiring DNA samples from all arrested felons. Other states now use this model to develop their own legislation.
6. Sheriff Frank Denning initiated the county's first sexual predator unit, which has resulted in a
significant number of arrests.
7. Sheriff Frank Denning prioritized department projects and departments that resulted in saving millions of dollars for the taxpayers; including reduced hiring and consolidated management.
8. The average length of stay in the Johnson County jail for those arrested is 15 days,
with the majority waiting for their day in court.
9. Frank has received endorsements and support from our leading Kansas Legislators, Johnson County Commissioners, Law enforcement agencies, Johnson County Mayors, area newspapers, and hundreds of Johnson County citizens.
10. The Johnson County Sheriffs department is held in the highest esteem throughout Kansas, our nation and internationally. The management success of Sheriff Frank Denning is recognized as a model of public safety and fiscal responsibility by law enforcement agencies and cities throughout the United States.
